One question that I get asked by my friends and family is what do you snack on? It is probably the one question most people ask me as my friends often say I’m sick of snacking on hummus and carrot sticks…

So here is a list of healthy snacks that I like to enjoy, some that are quick and easy and don’t require recipes and others with Healthy Mumma recipes:

Almond Butter with Celery (recipe not required). This one takes me back to my childhood! When buying nut butters, look for natural, organic ones that only contain the nuts and are not processed with other ingredients such as sugar and table salt. If you have a high speed blender or food processer i.e. thermomix you can make your own nut butter by simply adding the nuts and whizzing it up!

Yes Homemade Dips with Raw Veggies does make my list however change up your homemade dips including beetroot hummus and guacamole to make it not so boring! Dips are so simple and easy to make, I have a few that feature in my Healthy eBook. I often give my children a plate of colourful, raw veggies with dip for lunch, they both love it and it’s a great way to get veggies into their diet.

Fresh Apple with Nut Butter (recipe not required) again make sure you are buying natural, organic nut butters and not ones that are overly processed and full of sugar and table salt! Fresh pear is also yummy.

Fresh Banana with Almond Butter (recipe not required) or any Nut Butter. This is one of my favourite snacks any time of the day, give it a try. I have however discovered lots of people don’t like bananas but if you do this snack idea is yummy.

Fresh Banana with Hazelnut Cacao Spread and Shaved Coconut (recipe not required). Add coconut to this snack idea for a little more flavour.

Fresh Fruit with Coconut Yoghurt (recipe not required). Fruit is an obvious snack idea but cut it up and top it with coconut yoghurt for something different. My favourite time of the year is summer when summer fruits are in abundance.

Frozen Banana with Almond Butter Bites (recipe not required) these really are delicious! Simply cut up a banana or two into bite size pieces and freeze. Once frozen take out, spread some nut butter on one banana piece, top with a second piece and enjoy. I always buy LOTS of bananas each week and if they make it to the end of the week without being consumed and continue to ripen I then freeze them for smoothies, ice cream and these little treats.

Frozen Coconut Yoghurt with Pistachios and Strawberries (recipe not required). Simply spread some coconut yoghurt on a tray with baking paper, add slices of fresh strawberries and pistachios and freeze. Cut up using a hot knife to break into pieces and enjoy.

Frozen Flavoured Ice Blocks (recipe not required) are a great way to keep hydrated in the warmer weather. Flavour your water with flavoured ice cubes. The one below is fresh blueberries and mint from my herb garden frozen in coconut water. The combinations are endless, give them a try and children old enough to have ice in their drinks will love this idea.

Frozen Grapes (recipe not required) are also a great way to keep cool in the warmer weather. Freeze grapes and they turn into yummy little frozen treats. Or you could add these to water, smoothies or any other drink.

I love homemade granola, it’s a great snack idea, sweet treat or even dessert! And when you make this, it makes the house smell amazing. There are lots of combinations you can use with homemade granola.

Guilt Free Ice Cream (recipe for guilt free ice cream in the Healthy eBook) is a great quick and easy snack with endless combinations of flavours. Children will love this too and a great mummy guilt free treat for children to have after their dinner.

Healthy Treat Balls (recipe for four types of treat balls in the Healthy eBook or to save time available at the Healthy Store). Treat balls are my favourite snack and again my children love them! I often find my 18 month old son at the fridge with his hands in the treat ball container shovelling them in his mouth. Yes these do take some time to do but once you have made them they should last you a few days if not a week. They are a great way to assist with the sweet or chocolate craving, especially the chocolate balls!

Icy Poles (recipe not required) Buy some icy pole moulds and experiment with lots of different flavoured icy poles. These are especially great in summer and children love these! The ones below are my family’s favourite combinations:

Medjool Dates with Nuts (recipe not required). I read somewhere that dates are nature’s candy! This is so true, they are so sweet, juicy and plump and a great way to get your sugar fix naturally! I love taking the pip out of a date and putting in a brazil nut as a sweet snack, give it a go it’s yummy. I highly recommend the Medjool dates are they sweeter, plumper and juicer than any other date when dried.

Nuts (recipe not required) I often snack on a handful of raw nuts. My favourite is raw almonds but you can also buy packets of mixed raw nuts which include almonds, cashews, brazil and hazelnuts.

Pineapple Skewers (recipe not required). Children love anything that is on a stick! Simply coat the pineapple pieces in coconut sugar and grill to caramelise the sugar. Coconut sugar is available at the healthy store!

Smoothies have endless combinations you can try. I have got 17 combinations of smoothies listed in my Healthy eBook but you can pretty much experiment with an abundance of healthy ingredients. Give them a go, they are quick and easy. My children love smoothies and are at my feet waiting to get their smoothie when they hear the blender go!

Sumac Chickpeas (recipe for sumac chickpeas in the Healthy eBook) these are a great little snack and quick and easy to make, a great alternative to potato chips. They will keep in an air tight container in the pantry so I recommend doubling the recipe for a quick and easy snack.

Sushi Grade Salmon served with Tamari and Wasabi (recipe not required). Not everyone loves raw fish but this is a great snack for adults or a perfect starter for a dinner party. When buying salmon to eat raw ensure it is sushi grade, ask your fish monger. Serve with tamari and wasabi, tamari is a gluten free option for soy sauce.

Sweet Chilli Sauce (recipe for sweet chilli sauce in the Healthy eBook or to save time available at the Healthy Store). This healthy version of sweet chilli sauce is so delicious. I often snack on it with brown rice cakes and cottage cheese topped with sweet chilli sauce. There are so many uses for the healthy sweet chilli sauce including use as a dip, as a salad dressing, include in your salsas or use simply as a condiment to your choice of poultry, meats or vegetarian produce.
