I’m finally writing my first blog after many months of hard work and today we are very excited to launch Healthy Mumma.
My name is Lisa, I’m a wife to my loving husband Jordan and a mumma to my two beautiful children, Avery and Archie.
Becoming a new mum is a very special time however can be a little daunting as you face the many challenges whilst learning to become a mum. One of those challenges is eating healthy, it often becomes the last thing on your list of priorities due to the pressures of time constraints, ease and let’s face it as a mum you put yourself last. In the first twelve months as a mum I made really bad eating choices that were quick and easy to buy and consume and were high in sugar and bad fats. As a result 12 months after having my first child I was the unhealthiest I had ever been.
After a year of motherhood and putting my health last I decided it was time for a change and started to explore healthy eating habits and regular exercise for the first time in years. I have always had a passion for cooking and eating food (haha) so when exploring healthy eating options my number one aim was that it also had to taste delicious. I was not about to start eating steamed broccoli and grilled chicken (which seemed to be what popped up every time I did a search on healthy eating) every night and still created meals that were about enjoying good food.
My healthy lifestyle then assisted with the conception and pregnancy of my second child. After the birth of my son I continued with my healthy lifestyle and started to post pictures of my food on Instagram. I started to get a small following, requests for my recipes and positive feedback that I should start a blog as I was motivating other mums weekly shopping lists and meals prepared for their families.
So as a result Healthy Mumma was born! My aim is to show you that eating healthy does not need to be bland and boring food as all my recipes are not only healthy but delicious too. Healthy Mumma provides easy to access healthy nutritional products, recipes, information and tips to help you as a mum make some positive changes for you and your family. I strongly believe that a healthy, happy mum means a healthy, happy family.
So what is the Healthy Mumma eating lifestyle?
Healthy Mumma is inspired by the clean eating and paleo lifestyles with an emphasis on tasty, delicious food that will inspire you.
Clean Eating is a lifestyle centered around eating mainly unprocessed foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats and whole grains, while the paleo lifestyle is eating like we used to thousands of years ago and includes things that we could hunt or find including meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, leafy greens, nuts and seeds etc.
This is a lifestyle change, it is not a fad or a diet and is something that you can sustain and incorporate into your busy lifestyles as mums without too much effort to become a healthier and happier you!
It is also important to remember that exercise and diet go hand in hand, you can exercise as much as you like but if you don’t fuel your body with good nutritious food you will not benefit or see any results.
I’m hoping through this blog that I can share the knowledge that I have gained and am still learning every day to assist you as a mum with the everyday challenges of providing healthy food for yourself and your family.
